Abstract

Thermal and photo-induced generation of radicals during adsorption ofm-dinitrobenzene (m-DNB) on donor centers (D(S)) of gamma-Al2O3 from various solvents has been studied. Energy characteristics of these processes are shown to be significantly dependent on the ionization potential (I(p)) of solvent molecules (D). A mechanism for these processes is suggested implying the formation of surface electron donor-acceptor(EDA) complexes of the type [D-NB-D(S)] with the participation of solvent molecules.
