Abstract

The velocity of sound and the molar volume of the liquid indium-antimony were measured to deduce the compressibility over the entire composition range as a function of temperature. The so-called ''Nachschmelzen'' phenomenon found for liquid Sb becomes gradually weakened by adding In. There seems to be no obvious anomalies in compressibility around50 at.% Sb which could be connected with a sharp peak in the specificheat of liquid InSb reported previously At high temperatures the compressibility as a function of composition shows an inflexion at 50 at.%Sb, which can be interpreted as being due to the difference in the bonding mechanism in either side of InSb.
