Abstract

The present paper deals with the quantitative assessment of knowledge. The article focusses on the development and validation of a system-specific knowledge-test aimed at the problem-solving scenario <<tailor shop>>. The method of content-valid test construction was chosen. The rationality of this choice is based on test-theoretical criteria as well as on the applicability of this method for modern computer-based problem-solving tasks. Above and beyond the test-theoretical explanations and descriptions of the technical aspects of the test construction process, the article focusses on the validation of the test in a study on 198 high school students and (for a part of the tasks) a replication with about half of the original sample.
