Abstract

Co-Nb/Pd multilayered films were prepared by an rf sputtering method. The polarization of Pd and the interlayer coupling through the Pd layers are studied by magnetic and ferromagnetic-resonance measurements. As the thickness of the Pd layers increases, oscillation of the saturation magnetization and of the ferromagnetic interlayer coupling as a function of the thickness of the Pd layers are obtained with a period of about 10 Angstrom. The ferromagnetic interlayer coupling can exist until the thickness of the Pd layers is about 70 Angstrom. The magnetization oscillation is caused by the oscillatory polarization of the Pd layers. The oscillation of the interlayer coupling is related to the oscillatory polarization of the Pd layers.
