Abstract

In solution (CH2Cl2) one-electron redox process can be performed electrochemically on the ligand of the Cu-II chelate (1) of the title biliverdin. 1 shows an electronic triplet state configuration with one of the unpaired electrons in the ligand pi system. The one-electron oxidation product (1a) and the one electron reduction product (1b) correspond to the Cu-II chelates of the electron paired cation and anion respectively.
