Abstract

A total of 4,169 adult mosquitoes were aspirated from 3 tire disposalsites in North Carolina for virus assays. Aedes albopictus was the dominant species, with a relative abundance of approximately 99%. Potosivirus was isolated from one pool of 68 female Ae. albopictus. Priorities for future Potosi virus research and the implications of the NorthCarolina isolate are discussed.
