Abstract

Performance predictions for a simple reflection modulator based on measured absorption data are presented, and then resonant enhancement isdescribed. Calculated and measured performance for a resonant transmission device is presented with excellent agreement. An optimized resonant reflection modulator is designed giving 17-dB contrast for 2.1-dB insertion loss at -30-V bias. (C) 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
