Abstract

The resonance donor effect of the sigma,pi conjugation of R(3)M and R(3)MCH(2) (M = Si, Ge, Sn; R is an alklyl group) substituents with thetriple bond in compounds R(3)MC drop CX and R(3)MCH(2)C drop CX (X = H, R) changes on passing from isolated molecules to their H-complexes. A partial delta(+) charge on the triple bond enhances sigma,pi conjugation; a partial delta(-) charge on the triple bond has practically noeffect on the resonance properties of R(3)M substituents, whereas thesigma,pi conjugation of R(3)MCH(2) substituents diminishes owing to the effect of negative direct resonance interaction. The effect of sigma,pi conjugation on the effective negative charges of the carbon atomsin the -C drop C- fragments was estimated quantitatively.
