Abstract

The present paper deals with the study of the application of the gas phase condensation method to the synthesis of nanostructured tin oxides (SnO and SnO2). The method consists of the evaporation of a precursor compound (Sn, SnO, SnO2) in an inert gas atmosphere (He) to collect an ultrafine powder. The analysis of the obtained materials by XRD (X-ray diffraction), TEM (transmission electron microscopy) and XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) allows us to determine the experimental conditions that produce the best nanostructured ultrafine powders.
