Abstract

A giant magneto-inductive effect has been observed at room temperature in nanocrystalline FeCrSiB films prepared by RF sputtering followed by an annealing treatment. The frequency spectra and field dependence of the effect were studied in the frequency range from 1 kHz to 13 MHzand the magnetic field range from 0 to 75 Oe. A maximum reactance change of -110% induced by an applied magnetic field of 75 Oe was obtained at a frequency of 5 MHz. The sensitivity of the magneto-inductive effect at this frequency is about 8.5%/Oe. The field dependence of the effective permeability of the film is also presented.
