Abstract

Food guidelines for children and adolescents to realize present day recommendations for nutrient intake and prevention of nutrition relateddiseases are presented. Reasons for the selection of food (groups) are given. The proposed optimized mixed diet is characterized by high intake of plant foods, moderate intake of animal foods and low intake ofdietary fat. Foods of high nutrient density are recommended, foods oflow nutrient density are tolerated.
