Abstract

10Gbit/s unrepeatered transmission is demonstrated over a symmetrical337km mixed fibre system. NRZ data with clock prechirp enables a +22.2dBm launch power to be utilised. A low noise receiver is realised with a 980nm pumped preamplifier. Power budget improvement is obtained byRaman gain in the system fibre and dispersion compensation at the receiver. System length is increased to 412km with the addition of remoteoptically pumped post- and preamplifiers.
