Abstract

Leptomeningeal dissemination is not uncommon in the clinical course of malignant gliomas. We report on a patient who developed spinal symptoms some months after treatment of a cerebral glioblastoma. On MRI, there was a thickening and a subarachnoid enhancement of the spinal cord. Pathoanatomically, tumor recurrence and multiple dropping metastaseswere observed, infiltrating the spinal roots and compressing nerval structures. Conclusions: Leptomeningeal metastasis modifies the course of disease. Diagnosis is facilitated by MRI. Prognosis mostly depends on the extent of cerebral complications.
