Abstract

Authors described a colonization of intravascular catheter by pink pigmented bacteria from patient who had an chronically respiratory clinical illness. Numeration according to Maki's method was significant. Nevertheless, this strain was thunk to be responsible of colonization rather than the agent of fever. In this study we report biochimical and differential tests of such bacteria. The isolate was Gram negative, coccoid rods, non fermentative, oxidase, catalase and urease positive, According to Wallace et al the strain belong to ''pink coccoid'' group I. The strain was resistant to the cephalosporins and trimethoprim + sulfamethoxazol. The pathogenic significance of this pink organism is unclear, however it could be a opportunistic pathogen.
