Abstract

The thermodynamic functions of state of the Ti-Si system were assessed by a computerized least squares optimization method after Gauss using all experimental and estimated data available in the literature. TheNowotny phase Ti5Si3 was described alternatively as stoichiometric compound or by the Wagner-Schottky model expressed by the Compound Energy formalism. The liquid phase was treated by the Redlich-Kister formalism or the partially ionic liquid model. Three different sets of thermodynamic parameters and graphs of the calculated phase diagrams and thermodynamic functions are presented and compared with experimental andestimated literature data.
