Abstract

The article provides an overview of the Tripler Army Medical Center Inpatient Obesity Program. Termed the LEAN Program (emphasizing healthyLifestyles, Exercise, Emotions, Attitudes and Nutrition), it is the first inpatient hospital program completely developed, administrativelyowned, and directed by Department of Defense psychologists. The majorcomponents of the program are discussed, as is the conceptual framework that underlies the development. The LEAN Program model is offered as a guide for those who wish to develop other programs in inpatient health psychology.
